Michelle's primary research interests are population genetics and evolutionary biology. She received her A.B. degree in Biology from Harvard University, where she studied the population genetics of the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum in Daniel Hartl's laboratory. She then spent time with the Comparitive Orthopedics Research Laboratory at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine before moving to New York. Michelle is now enrolled in the dual DVM/PhD program at Cornell University. She co-hosts Nerd Nite Ithaca, a monthly evening of learning and beverages, during the school year and enjoys the company of her feisty patched tabby, Sophie Von Cat.
